sherlock is more fast paced and has more action, whereas life on mars is aimed at an older target audience meaning that it isnt as exciting as sherlock. life on mars starts of in the present and then is set in the 70s. sherlock is set in the present day.

mise-en-scene
Mise-en-scene means, placed in the scene. the 6 key elements for mise-en-scene are, Colour, Costume, Props, Set/Location, Blocking and Performance and Lighting.
We watched the opening scene for Sherlock and found that the location of the film was in old London, we know this because the roads were cobbley and there were horse and cart walking past, and also the camera zoomed in on the Baker Street sign. The opening scene was set in an old abandoned church like building.
